Conceptual Photography: Alexej Sachov at Artexpo New York 2026

Pier 36, Manhattan · Booth S311 (SOLO) · April 9-12, 2026
Additional works at M ART GALLERY, Booth 416 · Event info →

Close-up coral surfaces, underwater movement, the ocean's microscopic life. Process-based image-making created entirely during scuba dives.

Four series across two booths explore how life competes for space on coral reefs, how organic structures reveal themselves at close range, and what emerges in the dark water of night dives. No composites, no digital painting. The abstract quality comes from the subject itself.

Works on View

Selected works from The Jewel of Nature and The Secret Code of Nature.

The Jewel of Nature

Close-up photographs of coral worlds where biological competition, vibrant color, and structural balance coexist in a single frame. Each image is made on dive at close range.

At M ART GALLERY, Booth 416

Two additional series presented by M ART GALLERY. Both projects photographed during night dives.

The Shape of Cosmos

Straight lines and geometric shapes are rare in living underwater nature. Sachov introduces artificial objects into the ocean - placing the human-made into the organic to confront the divide between what we create and what nature creates. The dark water becomes a stage for a question: what kind of future are our actions shaping?

The True Magic

Rebirth is the true magic. Light, water, air, and particles — the elements that gave rise to life — merge beneath the surface in a continuous cycle of becoming. The night dive isolates the moment where these forces converge, making visible what is normally invisible: life beginning, again and again.
